Stephen Baldwin: Hollywood Rejected Me Because of My Faith

During a recent interview on a popular morning talk show, actor Stephen Baldwin revealed that he believes his devotion to Christianity doesn't mesh well with most Hollywood executives.

Baldwin revealed on "Good Morning America" that feels his strong religious beliefs and continued promotion of his faith led to filmmakers and producers choosing to overlook the actor because he is often considered too controversial. This unpopularity within the film industry has led to less roles within traditional secular entertainment.

Baldwin came closer to Christ and became a born-again Christian after the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. Since that time he has been a strong supporter and advocate of his faith going to conventions all over the country while spreading the word of Jesus Christ.

"I'm getting ready to direct two or three movies next year that are faith-based films. I'm kind of full-blown faith-based right now and that's just where I'm at in my walk of Christianity," Baldwin told reporter Amy Robach.

"But isn't it weird, that as a Christian, I had a casting director come up to me two years ago and say, 'I'm really sorry because I've brought your name up in castings for a while now and they all just look at me like I'm crazy,'" he added.

Robach then pushed forward with her questions asking "is it possible to be successful in Hollywood and be an outspoken Christian?"

To which Baldwin replied: "Sure doesn't seem like it now does it?"

Religion in Hollywood has seen some interesting developments as of late. When Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes made their divorce public, several rumors began to spread suggesting that Cruise's highly controversial participation in the cult of Scientology was the reason for the split.

And more recently Angus T. Jones, star of "Two and a Half Men," made headlines after publicly calling the show "filth" following a spiritual revival with the Seventh Day Adventists.
