Supermodel Niki Taylor Welcomes Baby Boy
The 90s supermodel Niki Taylor has welcomed her fourth child, Rex Harrison, on Wednesday.
Her rep confirmed that Taylor and her husband, former NASCAR driver Burney Lamar, welcomed a healthy 7 pound, 5 ounce baby who joins older sister Ciel, 2, and twin brothers Jake and Hunter, 16.
Taylor appeared on NBC’s “The Apprentice” last season, earning a $35,000 reward during the reality series’ competition. In May, she returned to the show to help the Men’s Team, Team Backbone, and in a Hair Show Task.
During her time on the show, Taylor spoke to Us Weekly about how her youngest daughter was handling her pregnancy.
“I think Ciel’s going to be fine,” said the 37-year-old model, who married Lamar in December 2006. “She’s going to be a great big sis!”
After graduating high school in 1993, Taylor married Miami Hooters linebacker Matt Martinez. The couple had twin sons in 1994, and divorced less than two years later. The supermodel went on to have several high-profile relationships with NHL hockey player Rob Niedermayer, Chris Paciello, and country music star Keith Urban.
Taylor became engaged to Lamar in October 2006 after just three dates; and the couple married in December of the same year in La Jolla, Calif.
Born in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Taylor became a model at age 13 when she signed with Irene Marie Models. Taylor’s first magazine cover was an issue of Seventeen magazine in 1989 when she was 14-years-old.
In 1996, Taylor appeared on the cover of six major American women’s fitness and fashion magazines – including Vogue, Allure, Self, and Shape. In 1997 and again in 1998 the model was featured in editions of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, becoming the cover-model for the magazine’s 1998 swimsuit calendar.
The path to happiness was not without suffering for Taylor. In 1995 she lost her younger sister Krissy to arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia. In a 2001 near-death car accident, caused by trying to answer a phone call from then-boyfriend Chad Renegar, she crashed into a utility pole. The accident left Taylor with numerous internal injuries. She was unconscious for six weeks and bedridden for an additional month.
Featured on E! Network’s television series “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” Taylor filed a federal lawsuit against the network for slander and emotional distress. The case was later settled out of court.
