This week marks the anniversary of when Rosalind Rinker, a notable Christian missionary to China and writer, was born in New Rockford, North Dakota.

At the age of 20, Rinker sailed to China to be a missionary and teacher for the Oriental Mission Society, which she did for 14 years, until political upheavals forced her out of the country.

Shen then returned to the U.S. where she enrolled at Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky, and graduated in 1945. Afterward, she worked as a counselor for InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. 

Rinker later wrote the book, Prayer: Conversing with God.
