Teen Mania closes – Dec. 17, 2015

This week marks the anniversary of Teen Mania's closure, a prominent Evangelical youth organization known for its major worship gatherings, due to financial issues.
Founded by Ron Luce and his wife, Katie, in 1986, Teen Mania held hundreds of “Acquire the Fire” events across the country, drawing millions of mostly young people.
The organization operated an evangelism leadership program called “Honor Academy” and used its Acquire the Fire seminars to influence the spiritual development of many teenagers.
However, by the 21st century, Teen Mania faced increasing financial woes, which led to its closure, as well as several allegations of mistreatment by former members.
"Katie and I feel this chapter coming to a close, and are grateful to the Lord for all that He has done through those who have rallied around this vision over the years,” said Ron Luce in a statement at the time. “Together we have taken many risks, climbed many mountains and slayed many giants!"
