Pastor Jamal Bryant of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Georgia called the practice of sage burning “witchcraft” and “satanic aromatherapy.”
He made the comments after members of his church gifted him with sage for his new house. He warned Christians not to be involved with the New Age practice of burning herbs to dispel vexing spirits or negative energy from a place.
“I’m practicing satanic intercession ‘cause I am invoking these spirits that are not holy, that are not sanctified to reveal themselves,” he said. “And nowhere in there am I calling on the name of God. Nowhere in there am I calling on the name of Jesus.”
