Top 6 issues Trump addressed in sweeping executive orders
Gender ideology
In a sweeping executive order titled "Defending Women From Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government," Trump made it official federal government policy to recognize only two genders, both of which the order defined on specific biological criteria.
The order defined sex as "an individual’s immutable biological classification as either male or female," and added that the word "is not a synonym for and does not include the concept of 'gender identity.'"
The order went on to define "female" as "a person belonging, at conception, to the sex that produces the large reproductive cell." A male is defined as "a person belonging, at conception, to the sex that produces the small reproductive cell."
The order further ordered the Secretary of Health and Human Services to provide the public "clear guidance expanding on the sex-based definitions set forth in this order" within 30 days.
The order also urges for inmates to be housed in prisons that align with their sex, not their self-declared gender identity.
