Trump's week in review: Showdown with South Africa, Big Beautiful Bill, Make America Healthy Again
Make America Healthy Again Commission report
Trump joined Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on Thursday to mark the release of the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) Commission’s first report regarding the chronic diseases afflicting many Americans, especially children.
The report, which Kennedy touted as “a milestone,” involved the entire administration and laid out the rising epidemic of childhood chronic diseases and identified key contributors such as poor diet, exposure to environmental toxins, lack of physical activity, stress and overmedicalization.
The report noted that more than 40% of American children have at least one chronic health condition. It also provided recommendations for further research regarding how nutrition, toxicology and lifestyle changes could aid in helping to push back against chronic disease, and the MAHA Commission is slated to release a thorough strategy by August.
The report observed that rates of autism have risen exponentially in recent decades, a statistic for which Kennedy claimed to expect an explanation by September.
