Verizon Inventory Snapshot Confirms Motorola Droid Razr Maxx (PHOTO)

It appears that the Droid Razr Maxx is the successor of the widely popular Droid Razr smartphone, as confirmed by a recent screenshot of Verizon’s inventory.

Gizmocrunch reported that this is the second time this smartphone’s name has appeared – with the first time being in the leaked EXIF data that showed up on Picasa. Currently, there is little to no information regarding the specifications on the next generation Verizon device.

However, there is a rumor circulating in the tech world that the next Droid Razr device will feature a “Maxximized” 4.5-inch 720p HD display and an improved audio system. It also dons the ‘Maxx’ label, showing that this device will probably receive a significant upgrade in all areas in terms of hardware and software.

The current Motorola Droid Razr topped CNet’s list for best smartphones of 2011 earning an outstanding rating. The phone beat out other popular handsets such as Apple’s iPhone 4S and Samsung’s Galaxy S2.

The Droid Razr is also expected to receive Google’s new operating system, Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich in the near future. With the addition of the new system it is likely that the next generation Razr will also be an Android 4.0 device.

There is also the possibility that Motorola may choose to make the body on the handset even thinner in order to retain the title of the “world’s thinnest smartphone.”

The current Droid Razr was introduced with that name sporting a body at 7.1mm thickness.

Other specifications on the smartphone include a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 16GB of internal storage, 1GB of RAM, microSD slot, 4.3-inch Super AMOLED gorilla glass display and Android 2.3.5, Gingerbread.

Verizon launched the handset in October and revived the Razr line. The original Razr flip cell phone was one of the most popular phones of all time.
