Beer 911: Man Called Police After Daughter Refused to Buy 6-Pack

A Florida man has been arrested after calling police claiming an emergency was taking place when his daughter refused to buy him beer.

Seminole, Fla. resident Robert Hagerman dialed 911 late Thursday night and claimed that he needed help with a domestic situation. Hagerman, 56, said that his daughter was hitting him, throwing things and using drugs, according to The Tampa Bay Times.

When authorities arrived to the scene after 11 p.m. both Hagerman and his daughter were home, but Hagerman was "very intoxicated and uncooperative," a report said. It was then that Hagerman's daughter explained that her father called the police because she did not provide him with beer.

As the events unfolded, she used her cell phone to record Hagerman making threats about calling in a fake emergency to police ahead of the 911 call. Hagerman's daughter played the audio for authorities, which resulted in his arrest.

Hagerman was charged for making a false report of a crime and was held in the Pinellas County Jail until Friday afternoon.

Similarly, in another Florida incident on Monday, a man from Lake Worth was arrested for repeatedly calling police after a store clerk refused to sell him beer.

Johnny Ramos was refused service at a convenience store when he tried to purchase beer when he called 911 more than 15 times, the police report said, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

The store clerk told police that Ramos, 41, was visibly intoxicated while trying to purchase beer. Officers arrived at the scene where Ramos was outside of the store and was reportedly yelling and speaking incoherently when asked to describe the emergency.

Ramos is facing charges of misuse of 911 and disorderly intoxication. He was released from Palm Beach County Jail on his own recognizance, reported the Palm Beach Post. In addition to calling 911 more than 15 times in one day, Ramos had called police more than 50 times the day before.
