'Daredevil' Season 2 News, Spoilers: Vincent D'Onofrio On Fisk's Return; Elodie Yung On Matt And Elektra

"Law & Order" alum Vincent D'Onofrio, who played Wilson Fisk/Kingpin in the freshman run of Netflix superhero series "Daredevil," made a surprise return to the show in the newly released second season.

D'Onofrio recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly about reprising his villainous role and whether or not Fisk will be around in the next season of "Daredevil."

According to the actor, Fisk's new journey is all about setting straight peoples' opinions of him and trying to get out of jail, where he feels like an animal in a cage.

The Kingpin's final scene in season 2 shows him asking his lawyer for the files on Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox). Does this mean that Fisk will soon find out about Murdock's secret identity?

Though D'Onofrio admitted that he doesn't know a lot about what's in store for Fisk and Murdock, he did give a subtle hint about his character's arc. Speaking about why he thinks fans like Fisk, even though he's a villain, the actor mentioned executive producers Steven DeKnight and Jeph Loeb and explained that it was their handling of the character that elicited such positive reactions from viewers.

According to D'Onofrio, it was "the way they wanted to make Fisk more of a man and to make him have this really emotional origin story" that was the key to his character's likability. "That original take on him is something that's only going to get better and better, and that's what fans are attracted to," he said. "I don't think they expected that."

Meanwhile, "Gods of Egypt" actress Elodie Yung, who made her "Daredevil" debut as the sociopathic mercenary Elektra in the show's current season, spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about Elektra and her relationship to the Devil of Hell's Kitchen.

According to the actress, though Elektra was written as a morally ambiguous villain, she's not a complete sociopath because she is "capable of love."

"[Elektra creator Frank] Miller always said Elektra is a villain that has a weak streak in her, and that weak streak is the love she had once for Matthew," the actress explained.

Yung also hinted at what's ahead for Elektra, saying that while her character's arrival will impact Murdock's actions, "Matthew will have an impact as well on Elektra."

"She'll start to question her own actions and she'll change," she said.

The second season of "Daredevil" is now streaming on Netflix.
