Duggar Family News: With Spin-off Over, What's Next For The Duggar Family?

The Duggar family's future seems uncertain at this point especially after their partner network, TLC, has concluded the airing of the spin-off series about two of the sisters in the family, Jill and Jessa. According to a report in the Hollywood Take, TLC is said to be taking its time on deciding what to work on next with the family. This may mean that the family will continue to deal with financial issues which came after the cancellation of their reality show "19 Kids and Counting" after Josh's molestation scandal.

After the show's cancellation, which was mainly due to public clamor and the loss of sponsors, the network aired a documentary on child sexual abuse as a way to counter the bad publicity they were getting. Later on, the network worked with Jill and Jessa to come out with "Counting On" which featured Jessa's pregnancy and Jill and her husband's mission work abroad.

Speaking during a TCA (Television Critics Association) event, TLC Executive Vice President and General Manager Nancy Daniels revealed that they decided to work with the family immediately after the scandal broke out.

After "Counting On," rumors broke out that Jessa and Ben Seewald, her husband, were being considered by the network to have their own series. Daniels, however, said that the network is taking its time and that they are "still considering doing more [specials] but haven't made a decision yet."

With the network undecided, it may still be a long wait for the family until they get back on air. According to Design and Trend, the family's financial situation may worsen still. The report cited that the family was set to lose a whopping $25 million a year from the show's earnings.

Their need to keep their family afloat is apparent as they have started asking for donations from fans and the public. According to a post in UPROXX, the family put up a Donate button on their YouTube page called Duggar Studios to support what they called "reality TV filmmaking." When the public found out about this, it caused another uproar on social media, prompting the family remove the Donate button from their YouTube page.

According to Design and Trend, it is the women in the family that are a clear disadvantage because all of them do not have a college education which should help them get a job and earn for the family. With Josh in rehab, his wife Anna is struggling to make ends meet for her children. At this point, she is very dependent on the Duggar family.
