HGTV Reveals New Texas-Based Series to Fill Up 'Fixer Upper' Void

With HGTV set to lose one of its most popular shows soon, the network wasted no time announcing an apparent successor.

In a post on HGTV's official website, the network announced that it will be launching a new series titled "Flip or Flop Ft. Worth." The show, which is basically a spin-off of the "Flip or Flop" TV series of Tarek and Christina El Moussa, will likely be the replacement for "Fixer Upper." The latter is confirmed to be signing off after its fifth season, leaving Texas-based fans without a show that is close their hearts.

The show will be hosted by real-life couple Andy and Ashley Williams in their journey of purchasing old properties and refurbishing them into beautiful homes for families in Ft. Worth. The hosts, who happen to be ex-military veterans, have switched careers and turned into "real estate investors as they buy, rehab and sell run down houses all over Texas," read the show's official description. "With tight budgets and tighter timelines, every house is a bumpy ride from the buy to the fix to the sell," the description added.

According to a Refinery29 report, Ft. Worth is just 89 miles away from Waco, where Chip and Joanna Gaines of "Fixer Upper" shoot their show. The new show, however, will add a different twist compared to the El Moussa's version of "Flip or Flop."

"The series also will highlight the duo's commitment to hiring fellow veterans to assist on their projects, including landscape designer Andrew Turner who helps Andy and Ashley add curb appeal to several homes during the season," explained HGTV. "Flip or Flop Ft. Worth" will showcase nine episodes in season 1, which begins early next month.

Toward the end of September, the Gaineses announced in a blog post that season 5 will be the final one for "Fixer Upper." They explained that they need to take things slow as they spend more time and attention to their family and business.

"Flip or Flop Ft. Worth" debuts on Nov. 2 on HGTV.
