HTC Desire Eye vs. Apple iPhone 6: Comparison of Features, Specs

It's the battle of the ultimate phones as we pit Apple's flagship phone, the iPhone 6, against HTC's ultimate selfie phone, the HTC Desire Eye. With Apple currently leading in the smartphone market, HTC hopes to pull in customers that use their phone primarily for taking pictures. But will a superb camera be enough to sway finicky customers?

Here' a comparison of the design and features of the iPhone 6 and the Desire Eye.

Design:
The HTC phone sports a fun design with its two-toned plastic slab, rounded sides, and matte finish. It measures 5.97 x 2.91 x 0.33 inches and weighs 5.43 ounces. It has an IPX7 water resistance rating, which means that it can survive being submerged into one meter of water for up to 30 minutes.

In contrast, the iPhone 6 has a more luxurious build made up of glass and aluminium. It measures 5.44 x 2.64 x 0.27 inches and weighs 4.55 ounces. It's not water resistant though, which makes the Desire Eye better to take along when doing sports or leisure activities.

Features:
The Desire Eye has a 5.2 inch 1920 x 1080 pixel display, and even though it's an LCD screen, images appear to be as bright as those seen on phones with AMOLED displays. It has a quad-core 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and runs on the Android 4.4 KitKat. It comes with 16GB internal storage which can be expanded with a microSD card up to 128GB.

The iPhone 6 has a smaller screen at 4.7 inches with a resolution of 1334 x 750. It's powered by the Apple 8 dual core processor and runs on the iOS 8. It's available it the 16GB, 64GB, 128GB variants.

When it comes to the camera, the HTC phone wins as both its rear and front-facing cameras feature 13MP sensors with dual-LED flash. The Apple phone has a main 8MP camera and 1.2MP front-facing camera.

Price:
The HTC Desire Eye costs $550 off contract, while the Apple Phone costs $850 off contract.
