Janet Jackson Talks Weight: Shuns Scales

After years of her weight fluctuating, Janet Jackson has opened up about maintaining her figure.

The singer admitted that she never counts pounds lost or gained while attending the Marco Glavianos "Supermodels" exhibit in New York City this week.

"I don't know what much weight I've lost, only because I stay away from the scale," said Jackson speaking to People magazine.

The superstar went on to explain that she feels weight scales are unhealthy for weight loss.

"You're setting yourself up to fail and women's bodies fluctuate every month- certain time of the month in particular- we bloat a great deal," she said.

The 46-year-old indicated that she is finally happy with her body after years of weight issues.

"I'm really happy with the way that I feel at the moment," said the "That's The Way Love Goes" singer. "I feel very good, and it's been a long time since I've felt this good."

As of December, Jackson has served as a spokesperson for the NutriSystem, which promotes weight loss.

"It works, point blank," said Jackson of NutriSystem. "You don't have to starve yourself getting there."

The diet program consists of a 28-day meal plan automatically delivered to your home. The website boasts that on NutriSystem, consumers can expect to lose one to two pounds a week. Although the program includes many foods, Jackson admitted eating one guilty pleasure.

"I love caramel apples," exclaimed the singer, according to People. "NutriSystem doesn't have that, so that's probably my cheat food. I go out to dinner with friends [too], but then I just get back on it. It's about maintenance."

In addition to the diet program, Jackson said she exercises regularly.

"If I'm getting ready for something like a tour, I work out six days a week," she added. "I like to switch it up. I may go for a run or bike."
