Loaded Gun on Disney World Ride Discovered by Grandmother, Grandson

A grandmother and her grandson found a loaded hand gun that had been accidentally left on a ride at Walt Disney World in Florida, officials said Wednesday.

Officials said that the woman found the pistol on the Dinosaur ride at Animal Kingdom. The woman turned over the loaded weapon to a park employee to report it to her manager and police.

The gun's owner, Angelo Lista, told authorities he discovered his gun was missing shortly after leaving the ride and disclosed that he had a concealed weapons permit.

The news comes just days after a "dry ice" explosion shocked visitors at a ride in Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif. Police arrested a suspect Wednesday in connection with the explosion that recorded no injuries.

The suspect, 22-year-old Christian Barnes, is an employee at the famed theme park and was taken into police custody after evidence linked him to the crime, according to Anaheim police Sgt. Bob Dunn on Wednesday.

Authorities have said that the small explosion took place on Tuesday at the Disneyland park after dry ice was placed inside a bottle and left in one of the trash cans in the Mickey's Toontown area, leaving visitors of the park stunned.

Barnes was an employee at the park and worked as an outdoor vendor. Police have arrested him and he is now being held on $1 million bail.

The explosion, which was described as a "small bang" by Disney's Twitter account, occurred around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sgt. Dunn told CBS.

"Just a big boom and the trash can exploding … the lid coming up … people were at a standstill," Vanessa Vasquez, who was at the park with her family, told KCBS. "It was kind of a little scary when I saw the whole area (look like a) ghost town."
