At roughly the same time as the announcement, Neil Druckmann, creative director and writer at Naughty Dog, also shared the news to his followers. He included an image of what appears to be the first disc to have the complete copy of "Uncharted 4."

"Every journey must come to an end. #gold #uncharted4," Druckmann said on Twitter.

"Uncharted 4" is a PS4 exclusive title that has seen many delays, but now that it has gone gold, gamers will finally get their hands on the game on May 20, 2016. The latest release date was announced earlier this month. Previously, Naughty Dog set the release date to April 26 and before that, the developer scheduled a March 18 launch. The game was originally planned to debut in the fourth quarter of 2015.

"A Thief's End" is the fourth installment in the "Uncharted" series and the final title from Naughty Dog. The series may still continue, depending on Sony's decision, but the new game will be with another developer. It's not yet clear what Sony's plans for the franchise are.

As for "Uncharted 4," game director Bruce Straley praised it the "best Uncharted of them all" and "the most visually stunning game ever created." Previously, a 3D environment artist at Naughty Dog praised the game's levels as "amazing."
