Nina Dobrev Leaving 'The Vampire Diaries' News: Final Scene Between Dobrev and Paul Wesley

Nina Dobrev is currently wrapping up her final scenes on "The Vampire Diaries" as the actress announced last week that she is leaving the hit show after season six.

The 26-year-old took to social media to tell her fans about her decision to leave The CW show, writing, "I always knew I wanted Elena's story to be a six season adventure."

Dobrev recently took to Instagram to announce that she and Paul Wesley, who plays Stefan on the show, have just finished filming their final scene together. One of the cornerstones of the series is the love triangle between her character, Elena, and Stefan and his brother Damon, played by Dobrev's ex, Ian Somerhalder.

The actress posted a picture of her and Wesley and captioned it, "Just finished filming my last Stefan and Elena scene with the amazing @paulbelvedere/ @paulwesley. Crazy. So many emotions. I'm lost for words."

The picture was posted after Dobrev uploaded a photo of her and Somerhalder filming as Damon and Elena. The shot was captioned, "Behind the scenes- shooting a Damon & Elena scene w/ Smolderhalder aka @IanSomerhalder."

Though there are speculations that the actress decided to leave because she couldn't stand to work with her ex anymore, who happens to be engaged to actress Nikki Reed, Dobrev's co-star Michael Malarkey was quick to defend the actress and her decision to leave the show.

"She's always known she was going to leave at the end of this season, so I think there was a lot of speculation about that," said Malarkey to E! News. "Like, 'Oh, is she leaving because of this or that.' People just need to stop reading tabloids."

The actor, who plays Enzo on the show, said that he fully supports Dobrev's decision.

"She was 20 years old when she started it and now she's 26. I think it's exactly the right thing for her to do, in someone in her position in this business," he explained. "I'm very, very happy she's moving on, although I'll miss her…I'm looking forward to seeing what she does next."
