Nintendo News: Gaming Giant to Extend Production of SNES Classic Until Next Year
Considering the threat of bankruptcy that they faced last year, Nintendo seems to be intent on not making the same mistakes again. Putting on a spectacular comeback show during this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), the gaming giant has since been whirling with activity.
Recent reports have revealed that aside from the Nintendo Switch, the SNES Classic is an unexpected, pleasant surprise as demands continue to increase.
Nintendo plans to extend production of the SNES Classic until next year because of the consistently increasing clamor of the fans for the company to make more. It was originally scheduled to cease production by the end of 2017. The gaming company also plans to begin shipping the pre-orders of the SNES Classic by Sept. 29.
"Fans have shown their unbridled enthusiasm for these Classic Edition systems, so Nintendo is working to put many more of them on store shelves," said Nintendo in a statement, as reported by Tech Crunch.
So far, the news has been well-received in the gaming community, especially since many were concerned that the supply will not be able to accommodate the fans' demand. It should also spread out the demand evenly, as reports also indicate that the pre-orders for the SNES Classic made for release on the console's launch day has surpassed the demand of the NES Classic Edition, which was released last year.
Nintendo will be including 21 games in the SNES Classic. The titles included are "Final Fantasy III," "Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past," and "Star Fox 2."
Nintendo also urged the fans to be cautious of auctions as they should not have to pay more than the standard retail price which is $79.99. In response, fans are hoping to have more stocks of the SNES Classic sold without the inflated price.
