'Overwatch' News: Tracer's Controversial Pose Now Has a Replacement

"Overwatch's" Tracer has been updated recently, and the change has to do with her over the shoulder pose which became the subject of controversy last week. Fans found out that Blizzard Entertainment has quietly changed Tracer's controversial pose which the community believes is a win-win for all parties involved.

Tracer's original victory pose was criticized by a fan as not only out of character but also reduced her to into "another bland sex symbol." The topic has since been discussed widely, with each side airing their points of view. "Overwatch's" game director Jeff Kaplan responded to the community saying the team will be replacing the pose, which they were doubtful of from the start.

Now, it appears Blizzard has pushed through with its statements last week and has replaced the controversial pose in a recent update. The change isn't included in the patch notes, but fans were quick to notice.

A NeoGAF user, SteveO409, shared a screenshot (above) of the new pose, which apparently focuses more on her personality than her backside. Forum members expressed their satisfaction with the new pose, with some saying it was a win-win situation for all. Meanwhile, over at the Twittersphere, one user compared the new pose to vintage pin-up art. In general, it appears Blizzard has appeased both sides of the controversial pose with this new Tracer pose.

For those who can't seem to get enough of Tracer or want news of her that doesn't include controversial poses, the "Overwatch" character will be crossing over to another Blizzard IP, "Heroes of the Storm." She's the first "Overwatch" character to do so and is also the first "Heroes of the Storm" character who is able to move while shooting at enemies. She'll come with her chronal accelerator and dual pulse pistols.

Meanwhile, "Overwatch" launches on May 24 to the Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Before that though, on May 5 to 9, the game will have an open beta on all three platforms.
