Samsung Galaxy S3 to Feature a Ceramic Body

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is now rumored to be featuring a ceramic body, according to industry insider Eldar Murtazin.

"SGS3 finalized and go to production," he tweeted yesterday. "Preorders from operators/retailers are really highest for all Galaxy line history (finally-ceramic)."

Some consumers were left disappointed by the first two smartphones of the Galaxy S series since their bodies were made out of plastic. But with a ceramic body, the next-gen version will sport a look that is unique to all other smartphones.

The ceramic casing is just one of the impressive high-end features to be included on the Galaxy S3.

The device is also expected to include a quad-core processor, a 4.8-inch high definition Super AMOLED display and 4G LTE connectivity.

It will also rival the current "world's thinnest smartphone" the Motorola Droid Razr by sporting a thickness of just 7mm. This will make the Galaxy S3 slightly thinner than the Razr, which is 7.1mm thick.

There was even a statement made by Samsung recently that revealed that the Galaxy S3 may take on a different name when it is officially unveiled.

"The successor to the Galaxy S II smartphone will be unveiled in the first half of the year, closer to commercial availability of the product," said the electronics giant. "We cannot confirm the detailed information at the moment."

The company seems to call this device "the successor to the Galaxy S2" rather than labeling it the S3 in the statement. Samsung could be planning to rename the third generation version.

The statement also mentions that the smartphone will be released sometime before the end of the first half of 2012.

The release date for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone is rumored to be in April, according to

However, it will need to be unveiled within the next few weeks in order for that to occur.
