Sony Xperia Z5 Compact Specs, Release Date: Upcoming 'Portable Flagship' Features

In recent years, one of the more popular smartphone lineups for Sony is its Compact family, which is composed of semi-highend devices at compact bodies.

After more than two years, the Japanese manufacturer is already preparing its upcoming Sony Xperia Z5 Compact and leaked images, specs and release dates have already flooded the Web.

According to a recent report by GSM Arena, several leaked images of the Z5 Compact, together with its bigger sibling, the Sony Xperia Z5, have surfaced on the Internet and are making their rounds on social media.

In the report, the image shows the Z5 Compact lying on top of the Xperia Z5 while the shot was taken from the phones' sides. The image did not reveal much aside from the two smartphone's slim profiles.

Interestingly, the two devices will have a power button whose color is different from the phone's entire body. We still don't know if this is actually the design, or merely prototypes of the two upcoming Sony handsets.

In addition, the report also speculated that the two devices would finally boast fingerprint scanners, a technology that Sony has not been using too much in its smartphones. The body retains its predecessor's rectangular shape, and most probably even the glass back case.

While there are no confirmed reports just yet, both the Sony Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact should boast the Japanese manufacturer's trademark 20.7MP camera, and the company's famed Triluminous display. Another feature that is present in most higher midrange and flagship devices from Sony is water and dust resistance.

In a recent report, Sony has allegedly confirmed that it would stage a press event at the IFA showcase in Berlin early next month. Meanwhile, another high-end Android device, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will reportedly be announced almost a month earlier to gain steam in the market before IFA.
