'Star Wars Battlefront: Death Star' Game Details, News & Updates: Latest Expansion Pack Will Bring New Mode 'Battle Station'

"Star Wars Battlefront: Death Star" promises something new and unique to Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC gamers. Ahead of its release next month, Electronic Arts (EA), the publisher of the action shooter video game, unveiled on Wednesday that the newest expansion pack will feature a new mode called "Battle Station."

How The New Mode Works

EA explained in a news release that the "Battle Station" of "Star Wars Battlefront: Death Star" will allow players to fight across three phases. Each phase has a unique objective.

In Phase I, Rebel players will be flying X-wings and A-wings to battle in space against Imperial players controlling TIE fighters and TIE interceptors. Rebels should kill enough TIE fighters to pave a way for a team of Y-wing support ships to come in and weaken the defenses of the Star Destroyer.

Once the shields turn low, Rebel Starfighters can attack the ship's weak spots to totally defeat the Star Destroyer. Imperial players and some AI ships will be teaming up to shoot at the Rebels and help protect the Star Destroyer.

The second phase will follow as soon as the Rebels succeed. It will be a ground-based combat wherein players on both sides will clash inside the Death Star. The main objective of this phase is for Rebel Starfighters to extract a Very Important Droid (VID) within the space station while Imperial players will be tasked to stop them. Rebel players can try out the new hero Chewbacca while Imperial players can use Bossk.

In Phase 3, the players will battle again in space where the main objective of the Rebels is to completely destroy the Death Star. Players can turn as Luke Skywalker as they attempt to blow up the ultimate asset of the Empire. On the other hand, the Imperial players will be working with Darth Vader to stop the Rebels from destroying the Death Star.

More Features

Aside from the "Battle Station," per Game Spot, the content of "Star Wars Battlefront: Death Star" will also include new Blasters and Star Cards. EA will give further details about these new features in the coming weeks.

The latest expansion pack is set to arrive this September, however, EA is yet to announce the specific date. Just like its predecessors, it will be an add-on to those who already own the video game.

"Death Star" will be the third expansion of "Star Wars Battlefront." The first two add-ons are the "Outer Rim" and "Bespin." The fourth expansion "Rogue One: Scarif" will be released together with the "Star Wars" film this December.
