'The 100' Season 5 News: Showrunner Jason Rothenberg Shares Behind-the-Scene Photo

"The 100" season 5 is shaping up to be an amazing installment.

Showrunner Jason Rothenberg recently took to Twitter to share behind-the-scene photos for "The 100" season 5. In the image, Clarke (Eliza Taylor) and Bellamy (Bob Morley) appear to be interacting with two other characters whose faces are not shown. Bellamy appears to be sporting a sleeker hairdo and a bit of a stubble in the picture.

Back in the season 4 finale, Echo (Tasya Teles) headed to the rocket with Bellamy, Raven (Lindsey Morgan) and Murphy (Richard Harmon), alongside other characters. Due to her deceptive ways in the past, Echo was not really a fan-favorite character.

However, it looks like viewers will be seeing a much lighter side of her in future episodes. Reports note that multiple photos of Teles as Echo smiling with other characters are now circulating online.

Earlier this year, Rothenberg hinted on the possibility of a Clarke-Bellamy romance in season 5. "No question, it is the most important relationship in the show in terms of these two leaders working together and figuring out how to survive together. One's strength is the other's weakness and vice versa," he told Entertainment Weekly.

"The 100" is now approaching its fifth year but the post-apocalyptic drama is still not renewed for a sixth season. This has led many fans to wonder if season 5 would be the show's last. In the fourth season, the series garnered a 0.3 rating in the 18–49 demo, putting it at the low end of The CW's lineup.

Cartermatt points out that the only way to secure a sixth season for the drama is to keep its live ratings up. The media outlet notes it would be better if season 5 could score a higher rating average compared with that of the last season. If fans stop watching the show live, they are running the risk that season 5 would mark the program's end.

"The 100" season 5 returns with new episodes midseason 2018 on The CW.
