This week in Christian history: Charlie Kirk founds Liberty U Falkirk Center; First Covenant of Scotland signed
Charlie Kirk, Jerry Falwell Jr. launch the ‘Falkirk Center’ – Nov. 30, 2019

This week marks the anniversary of the founding of The Falkirk Center for Faith and Liberty by conservative Christian activist Charlie Kirk and Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr.
A national think tank overseen by the Lynchburg, Virginia-based Evangelical institution, the Falkirk Center's stated mission was to "equip courageous champions to proclaim the Truth of Jesus Christ, to advance His Kingdom, and renew American ideals."
"It's time we went on offense to stand up for the Church in America and to actively promote American freedoms based on the values enshrined in the U.S. Constitution," said Kirk in a statement at the time.
"It's an honor to partner with President Jerry Falwell and Liberty University on this purpose-driven mission that will be used to organize an army of believers in faith and liberty, from renowned pastors to young influencers, to renew our sacred freedoms and defend our deeply held convictions."
Less than a year later, Falwell resigned as president and chancellor, and by March 2021, Kirk would exit the center after his contract was not renewed.
The entity would later be renamed the Standing for Freedom Center. Kirk was killed while speaking on a college campus in Utah in September.
