5 Bible Verses to Read Before Your Bedtime Prayer Tonight

Bedtime is the moment that is looked forward to after a hard day's work. Reviewing the day's events before shutting the eyes to sleep has been a habit developed by most people. Before hitting the sack, it would be best to spend the remaining moments of the day with God and reflecting on these verses.

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge." (Proverbs 1:7)

Humbleness is one of the traits approved by God. Coming before Him is best when done with humility and reverence. It is an acknowledgement of your own helplessness and the need for His guidance, blessing and support. It has been said that boasting is not from the Lord but an act of a fool.

"The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble." (Nahum 1:7)

No matter how bad the day may have turned out, God remains good for keeping you alive and well. He remains a stronghold amid the problems that beset you. More than that, He is a refuge and source of strength. The fact He can be approached speaks strongly about His goodness.

"Everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins through His Name." (Acts 10:43)

Before going to bed, remember the actions you committed during the day that may have offended God. Confess these, ask for His mercy and commit not to repeat the offenses. Do these with humility and heartfelt sorrow to obtain His grace and forgiveness.

"Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

There are many things to be thankful for during the day. Thank God for life and the joys that came along with it; for the continued material and spiritual blessings; for loved ones and the inspiration they bring; for keeping you and your family safe and secure; and for the gift of friendship that wipes out loneliness.

"Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and he will act." (Psalm 37:5)

Bear in mind that God is bigger no matter the gravity of your situation. He is ready to help and is just waiting for you to call upon Him. He is already working to turn the situation in your own favor even as you speak. Stop worrying, have faith and leave everything to Him.
