Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., a constant target on "Tucker Carlson Tonight," celebrated the show's abrupt end by tweeting "Wow" in response to the news.

On his show, Carlson previously referred to Ocasio-Cortez as an "utter fraud," adding that he believes the congresswoman is "not a populist or a voice of the oppressed."

Days before Carlson's departure, Ocasio-Cortez told MSNBC she believes journalists on networks "like Fox News" and Carlson himself should face legal scrutiny for "incitement of violence."

"I believe that when it comes to broadcast television, like Fox News, these are subject to federal law ... in terms of what's allowed on air and what isn't," she told MSNBC host and former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki. "When you look at what Tucker Carlson and some of these other folks on Fox do, it is very, very clearly incitement of violence."
