7 Interesting Facts About Christmas

Traveling for Christmas

Credit :

While Christmas has always been known as a time when large numbers of Americans travel for family gatherings, this year is expected to have a record high.

AAA Auto Club released its yearly forecast on travel for Christmas and New Year's and has reported that approximately 107.3 million Americans will commute at least 50 miles.

"Overall, travel is expected to be a 3.1 percent increase from the 104.2 million U.S. travelers for the winter holidays last year," reported the site Transport Topics.

"If the prediction holds true, it will mark the ninth straight year in which Christmas/New Year's travel has risen, and volume will be up by 21.6 million travelers — more than 25 percent — since the 2005 holiday period."
