Lumix is the name of Panasonic’s brand of digital cameras which includes every type from pocket point and shoot models to digital SLRs.

The new Lumix Phone will also sport a QHD display with a 960-by-540 pixel resolution along with a 1GHz OMAP4430 dual-core chip from Texas Instruments, e-wallet features and digital TV tuner.

Panasonic’s new Lumix 101P is expected to be released on Softbank’s network in Japan sometime this November.

A 13.2 megapixel camera is a significant resolution jump for the smartphone market.

Currently the norm for cameras equipped on smartphones is around 5 megapixels, which happens to shoot beautiful pictures.

But with the release of Samsung’s Galaxy S2 and the upcoming iPhone 5, an increasing number of smartphones will begin to include cameras capable of shooting 8 megapixel pictures.

Along with snapping detailed photos, these cameras can also film special events in 1080p high-definition quality.

The new iPhone’s camera is rumored to rival some of the equipment out there commonly used by amateur photographers.

Now with the announcement of a 13 megapixel camera being included on a smartphone, the possibilities for these devices seem endless.

The Samsung Galaxy S2 is currently available overseas and in the United States through carriers such as Sprint.

The iPhone 5 is expected to launch sometime in October.

Apple is hosting a media event on October 4 where the company plans to give the public a first look at its next generation smartphone.
