'Chicago Med' Season 2 Spoilers and Air Date: April's Health Crisis Worsens; Dr. Choi Continues to Struggle with PTSD Even After Promotion

April's condition will become contagious and she doesn't know if she will tell Tate.

The most shocking and least expected among the cliffhangers that "Chicago Med" left viewers with in last season's finale would probably be Nurse April Sexton's diagnosis of having tuberculosis. She discovered about it just after her boyfriend Tate Jenkins proposed to her. She is now left with the dilemma of whether to tell her fiancé about it or not in the upcoming season.

April centric storyline

April (Yaya DaCosta) will be the center of a huge storyline when "Chicago Med" Season 2 returns. EP Diane Frolov revealed that a long story arc will revolve around April's current health crisis. Frolov added that in the premiere, April will really try to avoid Tate and his son for fear of them catching the disease even though she is latent.

According to Frolov, April is not convinced that she can continue on with her life and that she is not contagious. But, her TB will later cease to be latent, becomes active and therefore contagious.

It looks like the newly engaged couple's relationship will be tested in "Chicago Med" Season 2. Viewers are now excited to find out how the TB will affect their relationship aside from how and when will Tate find out about it.

Dr. Rhodes' new mentor

In the "Chicago Med" Season 2 premiere to air on September 22, Dr. Rhodes' (Colin Donnell) new mentor, Dr. Latham (Ato Essandro), will be introduced. Dr. Rhodes' old mentor, Dr. Downey (Fregg Henry) died in last season's finale. The new mentor will prove quite difficult for the young doctor to handle in "Chicago Med" Season 2 but he needs to finish his fellowship.

Soul Care

The season premiere titled "Soul Care" will feature Dr. Manning (Torrey DeVitto) taking on an interesting case of a pregnant woman who was a victim of a high speed vehicle collision.

Meanwhile, Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee) will be promoted to the position of Chief Resident at the beginning of "Chicago Med" Season 2. Having served the U.S. Navy, he feels he knows how to run a tight ship, only for him to find out that in the ER, the ones who run the ship are actually the nurses.

Just because he got promoted doesn't mean he will no longer have the issues that plagued him in Season 1. He will still continue to struggle with his PTSD he got from his service days. That means that the bird that helped Dr. Choi deal with the disorder in "Chicago Med" Season 1 will still be around in the upcoming season.

Four show crossover plan temporarily scrapped

A four show crossover was supposed to happen for "Law &Order:SVU" and the three, Chicago Fire, P.D. and Med. Given the complicated logistics involved however, the plan was scrapped and it will just be a two show crossover between P.D. and SVU.

EP Dick Wolf added that the original crossover plan is too complicated to figure out but he is not ruling out the possibility of going through with it in early 2017. Wolf added the possibilities are limitless in the integrations between the Chicago dramas.

This is when a character from P.D. might appear in Fire or a doctor of "Chicago Med" will be seen helping the team of Fire. Wolf expects the integrations to be seamless like they've actually been for more than three seasons that they have been doing them.
