'We will miss you down here': Christian artists react to Dolly Parton's death at 80

2. Zach Williams

Christian singer Zach Williams, who recorded the Grammy-winning duet “There Was Jesus” with Parton, said her songs, faith and character had a profound influence on him.

“Dolly, your songs, your faith, and the way you loved people impacted me more than you probably ever will know,” Williams wrote. “You showed all of us that success didn’t have to change your heart, and that we could use what God gave us to make life a little better for somebody else.”

“Thank you for the road you paved, the music you gave us, and the example you set for artists like me,” he continued. “Country music, and my own journey wouldn’t be the same without you.”

Williams concluded his tribute with a reference to Parton’s Christian faith: “Rest easy Dolly, you are finally home. We will miss you down here.”
