Former Facebook President Sean Parker Joins Twitter, Apologizes to Mark Zuckerberg

Sean Parker, Facebook’s former president has officially crossed social media lines and joined rival Twitter. He used his first tweet to make a statement to his former company.

Parker, who got his start as the co-founder of Napster before famously joining Facebook in 2004, was forced out the social media giant after a criminal offense.

Late Monday afternoon, Parker joined Twitter by firing off an apology to Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg: “Sorry Zuck (sic Mark Zuckerberg), I had to do it eventually. (Actually @scooterbraun made me do it).”

Talent manager Scott Braun further clarified Parker’s reasoning by this additional tweet to his account: “ And shoutout to my guy @sparker - one of the great minds of our generation and looking good on the cover of Forbes. Follow him!”

Sean Parker joining Twitter appeared to be a popular move for the billionaire. In less than five hours after tweeting, he quickly gained over 19,000 followers. Twenty-four hours later he was up to nearly 23,000 followers.

Parker famously was portrayed by pop star Justin Timberlake in the 2009 drama “The Social Network,” a film loosely based off of the history of Facebook. In the movie, Parker was shown to be a party boy.

Sean Parker denied his portrayal saying the film is “a complete work of fiction,” adding “I wish my life was that cool.”

Parker currently is part owner in Facebook, but has not had an active role in the company since he was ousted in 2005.
