Following the brief study in 1 Corinthians came what many in attendance saw as the main attraction.

Male volunteers wearing T-shirts that read “Mighty Men of David” escorted those who were seeking to be healed onto the floor in front of the main stage.

While Locke himself did not lay hands on anyone, Davids did much of the heavy lifting, often blowing with his mouth — “that’s the anointing,” he said — on those he wanted to be healed from all kinds of afflictions, from depression and anxiety to Parkinson's and leukemia.

Bodies throughout the meeting trembled and shook. Sweaty palms slapped against damp foreheads. One woman danced aimlessly in front of a loudspeaker in her own private worship.

Up on stage, another woman who was given the microphone claimed Davids healed her from a blockage in her left ear.

"For two years. And it's gone," she said.

"Can you give God glory and praise all over the building?" Davids asked.

Another man who appeared to be convulsing in wild spasms back and forth was escorted to the stage. Even after Davids laid his hand on him, the man continued to writhe on the floor, but Davids had already moved on to his next healing.

Someone sang a beautiful acapella version of "How Great is Our God" as volunteers restrained another convulsive woman on the floor, praying over her as they did so.

At one point, Davids, still clutching the microphone, commanded a demon to leave a convulsing middle-aged man on stage, who appeared to continually threaten to fall backward without actually doing so, as though he couldn't trust the volunteers enough to catch him.

During the healing, Davids is heard telling him, “Your sins are forgiven!”

On another part of the stage, a balding heavy-set man falls to the floor, making sure to straighten out his shirt upon doing so.

Ultimately, the main stage itself is filled with several people writhing and laying on the floor as Locke quoted Joel 2:28: "And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.”

“It’s happening before your very eyes,” Locke said. “Don’t miss your miracle.”

Once things tapered off, Davids emotionally prepared the crowd to take an offering to cover an event cost which he said totaled as much as “hundreds of thousands” of dollars.

It’s a moment that, however long delayed, even those of us who grew up unchurched always knew was coming.

"How many Christians here want to have this same anointing and this same encounter next month again?" he asked. “We need urgently to cover the expense for the event that runs into hundreds of thousands and the ministry that's just six months old.

“Step out by faith, be moved by God. If the Lord said to you, ‘I want you to step in and partner with this movement with ten thousand dollars,’ run to the altar. Run, run, run.”
