HTC One X Still Experiencing Wi-Fi Issues After Software Update

HTC One X users are still experiencing issues with the device's Wi-Fi connectivity, even after the company issued a software update meant to fix the problem nearly a week ago.

HTC Europe acknowledged the Wi-Fi problem this week and issued a statement.

"After investigating isolated reports of Wi-Fi connectivity issues in the HTC One X, we have identified a fix that strengthens the area of the phone around the Wi-Fi antennae connection points," said HTC.

"While many customers have not experienced any problems with signal strength, we have taken immediate steps to implement a solution in our production process to prevent this issue from happening in the future," HTC continued. "HTC is committed to making sure every customer has a great experience and we apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused while we conducted a thorough investigation."

Owners of the HTC One X and HTC itself both discovered that the issue with the Wi-Fi connection is not related to software. Some users of the device have been able to correct the problem by squeezing the smartphone in a specific area. HTC will most likely find a way to fix the issue by tightening up that same area.

The long-awaited HTC One X launched on AT&T last month.

The carrier offers the smartphone for $199 with a new 2-year contract.

It is also available on Amazon.com with a $50 discount making it just $149. Unfortunately, Amazon's version does not come with an unlocked boot loader that select HTC handsets include.

Specifications on the One X include a Tegra 3 quad-core processor, a 4.7-inch Super LCD display with 1280 x 720 pixels, an 8-megapixel camera that includes an ImageChip that kicks up picture processing. It is also a 4G LTE device and features Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich.
