Who is Katie Zacharia: 5 things to know about Trump's new White House press secretary
3. Christian mother whose children attend private school
During her appearance on “We the People with Gates Garcia” podcast, Zacharia repeatedly mentioned her Christian faith. When discussing what motivates her to remain active in the political scene, she praised Godspeak Calvary Chapel in Newbury Park, California, as an “amazing church” that “stayed open” during the COVID-19 pandemic when state and county health orders barred indoor worship services.
Godspeak Church’s actions led to Zacharia “getting involved in the church” and motivated her to decide “I’m going to fight for this” even though “culture’s going to tell me I’m wrong; my government’s going to tell me I’m wrong.”
Zacharia added that her four children are the “reason” for her activism, adding, “There’s no greater gift than to fight for these precious humans to have freedom” and “get to worship God and go to a private Christian school.”
Zacharia also said, “I feel like the Lord really created this part of me to thrive in a state like California and kind of like being the minority,” referring to California’s status as an overwhelmingly Democratic state. She cited the COVID-19 pandemic as what motivated her to re-enter conservative activism after having four children, recalling how she felt a “call” to “take the steps” that “I feel like the Lord had prepared for me.”
