Lulemon Back In Stores, Co-Founder Apologizes For Comment on Pants

Lulemon yoga pants returned to storefronts this week following co-founder Chip Wilson's offensive comment about women's body causing the product's failure.

Back in March, Lulemon admitted fault with the sheer fabric used on the workout gear and took them off the shelves.

Now, the redesigned pants boasts of "added mesh panels on the side and a luon fabric panel across the back to give you the coverage you need in Down Dog," according to the Business Insider.

Furthermore, the luxury workout brand is still selling the pant, now called the "Second Chance Pant," for a whopping $92.

"This is what celebrating failure looks like," the tag reads.

The new pants arrived after the store created controversy. Last week, founders Chip Wilson and his wife Shannon appeared on Bloomberg TV where he said Lululemon is not to blame for other fabric problems- that women's bodies are the cause of pilling.

Unsurprisingly, Wilson's comment was met with a deluge of outraged consumers, and the co-founder offered this in his video apology: "I'm sad. I'm really sad. I'm sad for the repercussions of my actions, I'm sad for the people of Lululemon who I care so much about that have really had to face the brunt of my actions. I take responsibility for all that has occurred, and the impact it has had on you."

Meanwhile, Wilson's comments on Boomberg TV last week included his comparison between Lululemon yoga pants and faulty seat belts.

"There's always been pilling," said the co-founder, according to the Huffington Post. "Women will wear a seat belt that doesn't work. Or a purse that doesn't work, and quite frankly, some women's bodies just don't work for [our pants]."

When the show's host prompted him further, Wilson reiterated that "they just don't work for some women's bodies."

"It's really about the rubbing of the thighs, how much pressure is there over a period of time, how much they use it," he added, much to the chagrin of Twitter users everywhere.

"In other news, Chip Wilson says you're too fat to wear #lululemon," posted Twitter user Shannon Scott.

Other comments on Lululemon's founders' explanation by Twitter users included "infuriating" and "ignorant," while Alyssa added, "I might boycott Lululemon after reading this sh--."

Yoga wear available at Lululemon range in prices from $42 to $108.
