Missing Toddler's Mom Fails to Complete Polygraph

Missing toddler Ayla Reynolds has been gone for nearly one month, and suspicion is beginning to fall on her parents. Ayla's mother, Trista Reynolds, failed to complete a lie-detector test due to an unknown medical condition.

Trista Reynolds took to the Internet to defend herself against speculation by the media and those following the case. She told reporters weeks ago, "When I go, you best believe I'm going to tell everyone out there the results. I have been offering to take a polygraph test since day one."

Now, Trista has stated, "According to the test administrator, I was unable to complete the test due to a medical condition. It was suggested to me that after treatment by a doctor I would be able to complete the tests, but the investigating authority is content with the general outcome of the incomplete test (as it stands)." She also wrote that she plans to receive treatment in order to be prepared if re-testing is needed.

Baby Ayla was reported missing on Dec. 17 by her father, Justin DiPietro. He told police that he put Ayla to bed but discovered her missing when he awoke and has already taken a polygraph test. Police refuse to release the results of his test.

Trista Reynolds was seeking sole custody at the time and had just been released from a rehabilitation program; papers were filed on her behalf on Dec. 16. She has also stated that she suspects Justin had something to do with Ayla's disappearance, but he maintains that he has "shared every piece of information with the police."

Police Chief Joseph Massey announced on Dec. 30 that they suspected "foul play based on conclusions of evidence gathered by investigators," he said. "This case has evolved from the search for a missing child to a criminal investigation."
