New York Giants Coach Ben McAdoo Will Not Rule Out Signing Adrian Peterson

Right now, the New York Giants can use some help at the running back and they are still looking to add more depth at the position. Guess who is still looking for a team to play with next season? All-Pro running back Adrian Peterson.

In an interview last season, Peterson said the Giants were actually one of the teams he would consider joining if he leaves the Minnesota Vikings. Now, they have a chance to sign him, but will he do it?

During a media scrum at the annual league meeting in Phoenix, Arizona on Tuesday, Giants coach Ben McAdoo was asked if they would consider signing Peterson and he replied that they were not ruling out the possibility.

"Never say never," McAdoo said, according to Pro Football Talk. "He's a guy who's a very talented player, and he has a chip on his shoulder. And if he can stay healthy, he has a lot to offer," he continued.

Of course, this does not mean the Giants are definitely going to pursue him.

If they were really that interested in Peterson, they would have gone after him right away when the free agent signing period began.

"Despite Peterson's interest in the Giants, the Giants have never seriously been in the mix for his services. They haven't shopped at the top of the free-agent running back market this offseason. Peterson wasn't in their price range given his track record or on their radar given his past problems," Jordan Raanan and Mike Reiss said in their report on ESPN.

Well, the chances of seeing Peterson in a Giants uniform is quite slim and some observers have also noted that they are more likely to add a running back via the draft.

The Giants don't have a clear number one running back, but they do have Shane Vereen, Paul Perkins, Orleans Darkwa and Shaun Draughn on their roster.
