'Super Smash Bros. 4' News: Creator To Take 'Breather' From Working On Video Game Series

"Super Smash Bros." creator and game director Masahiro Sakurai gave fans an update on what he has been working on and announced that he will be taking a much-needed "breather," Source Gaming reports.

In a short blurb in the latest issue of Famitsu magazine, Sakurai wrote, "I've been developing the DLC characters for 'Smash' for 3DS/ Wii U." He added: "I've been very thorough when making these characters, so I needed a lot of time. I haven't been able to take a vacation since starting this project, but it's almost over! I want to enjoy every day like it's a Sunday. However, that doesn't mean my next job hasn't been decided already. So it's less like I'm taking a break, and more like I'm taking a breather for a moment."

According to Crossmap, Sakurai's announcement comes as no surprise, as the video game creator has been talking about taking a break for the last two years. Sakurai has reportedly been so focused on developing the "Super Smash Bros." games that the work has affected his health.

Meanwhile, the last two DLCs for Sakurai's popular fighting video game franchise, "Super Smash Bros.," are scheduled to be released in less than a month. According to Crossmap, the final two DLCs for "Super Smash Bros. 4" will add two new characters, Bayonetta and Corrin, to the game.

Bayonetta, from Sega's "Bayonetta" video game series, is said to come with two costumes: the one she wore in the original game and her costume in "Bayonetta 2." Corrin from "Fire Emblem Fates" will join a host of other characters from that game in the "Super Smash Bros." franchise. The Corrin DLC will reportedly be the first downloadable player to come with both male and female Avatars of the character. Both of these DLCs are expected to be released in February.
