'Supernatural' Season 13 News: 'Scooby-Doo' Crossover Episode to Be 'More Adult,' Airs in March 2018

"Supernatural" fans are looking forward to the upcoming crossover episode featuring the classic animated series, "Scooby-Doo."

The crossover was announced earlier this year, but the episode is not scheduled to air until later in the season. The episode is going to be fully animated, but that does not mean that it will be more "Scooby-Doo" than "Supernatural."

"It's going to be an episode of 'Supernatural' with Scooby-Doo in it. It's not going to be an episode of 'Scooby-Doo' with the guys in it," showrunner Andrew Dabb told Entertainment Weekly. "It's more adult than your average episode of 'Scooby-Doo.'"

Dabb revealed that they were able to make the episode work because they were blessed with a little more time to prepare for season 13. "Scooby-Doo" and "Supernatural" fans alike are definitely going to enjoy the episode, which co-showrunner Robert Singer described as "great."

But, since the episode is not scheduled to air until March next year, fans will have to wait a while longer. In the meantime, they can watch Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) try to raise Lucifer's (Mark Pellegrino) son, Jack (Alexander Calvert). Of course, Lucifer is bound to feel uneasy about the whole situation.

"This is horrible. The stepparents are winning, and it's not fun," Pellegrino told TVLine. "I think Lucifer is going to try to remedy this situation as soon as possible."

Pellegrino also revealed that just because Lucifer is the devil does not mean he lacks feelings. In fact, Jack choosing Castiel (Misha Collins) to be his father certainly strikes a chord with him.

"I think it's a myth that somebody like Lucifer can't have hurt feelings," he said. "So, for sure, he is bothered by the Winchesters and Castiel taking over his parenting responsibilities."

Raising Jack really gives Sam and Dean an opportunity to become parents, as it was previously revealed that settling down and having a family may not be in their immediate future.

"Supernatural" season 13 airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
