'The Incredibles 2' Release Date and Plot News: Fans Will Have to Wait a Couple More Years

The sequel of the well-loved animated film "The Incredibles" has finally received a release date.

The news of the film's release date was announced with information about 19 other movies. According to the Disney Blog, fans will have to wait a couple of years, in order to see the superhero family once again.

It was reported that the writer and director of the animated film, Brad Bird, will be working on the upcoming film. Unfortunately, there has yet to be more information about the sequel. Meanwhile, he did share some minimal details about "The Incredibles 2."

According to Collider, Bird explained that he already developed the story arc for the film. It was reported that he has three quarters of the script already finished as well.

However, there were no distinct details on the plot. Bird had said, "So we're trying to keep it focused in the area that our film was, which was a little bit more about characters and relationships and stuff like that, and see where that takes us. But we're having a good time."

Meanwhile, there have been speculations on what the story could explore. It was predicted that familiar characters, such as Jack-Jack and Edna Mode, could be acting as villains in the upcoming film. With that, the film will most likely experience a large time jump, which will allow fans to see older versions of their favorite characters. Bird had also commented on the importance of the characters in the film.

He said, "I think that the greatest special effect is caring about a character. A lot of movies seem to forget that, and they bring out a lot of fireballs and then wonder why the fireballs don't have that much impact, no matter how loud and how big they are. But the truth is that the fireball isn't that exciting unless you care about the person running from it."

"The Incredibles 2" will premiere in theaters on June 21, 2019.
