Sgt. Daniel Keene of the California Highway Patrol also said that six of his fellow officers were hurt, according to KTLA. Keene added that the injuries were minor, however.

According to a summary of events published by CBS News Monday, a large group of demonstrators marched from the steps of L.A. City Hall to the federal building on Sunday. The federal building is where the detention center is located.

The protesters clashed with the federal agents outside the building, and the outlet noted that several agents appeared to be National Guard members. In response to the chaos, the LAPD issued a Tactical Alert for the entire city.

Two motorcyclists tried to breach the LAPD skirmish line in front of the detention center, according to the police. The motorcyclists, who have since been detained, injured two police officers.
