3. Trump admin locates over 13,000 missing migrant children

A source within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services told NewsNation on Wednesday that the Trump administration had located 13,061 migrant children who arrived at the United States-Mexico border unaccompanied by an adult. The HHS source also informed the news outlet that 422 sponsors who cared for unaccompanied minor children after they arrived in the U.S. had been arrested on charges of abusing the minors in their custody or other crimes.

Data released by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Office of the Inspector General shows that about 448,000 unaccompanied illegal alien children were transferred from DHS to HHS' Office of Refugee Resettlement Services (ORR) between 2019 and 2023.

The report noted that 32,000 unaccompanied illegal immigrant children did not show up for their court hearings while contending that there could be an even higher number of unaccompanied migrant children because 291,000 minors have not received Notices to Appear that inform them of their court dates. According to the report, "Based on our audit work and according to ICE officials, [unaccompanied children] who do not appear for court are considered at higher risk for trafficking, exploitation, or forced labor."
