Boston Celtics Have Reportedly 'Remained Vigilant' on the Possibility of Acquiring All-Star Forward Anthony Davis

The New Orleans Pelicans currently have no intention of trading Anthony Davis, but it seems the Boston Celtics are keeping a close eye on the All-Star forward's standing with the team in case something changes.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Celtics have "remained vigilant" on the possibility of acquiring Davis, and the four-time All-Star knows full well they have him on their radar.

In a recent interview with Wojnarowski, Davis said he spoke with Pelicans general manager Dell Demps after he heard about the Celtics' rumored interest in acquiring him during the offseason. As expected, Demps told him they weren't going to move him, but during the interview, Davis admitted that he wasn't completely sure the front office was upfront with him.

"He told me that [Boston] was calling, but nothing was going to happen," Davis said, via ESPN. "At the same time, though, you see how organizations treat players. Isaiah Thomas. DeMarcus [Cousins] told me that the [Kings] told him that he wasn't going to get traded, but they traded him. Isaiah took his team to the Eastern Conference finals, and they traded him," he continued.

"It makes you wonder: Does this organization really have my back? I've been loyal to this organization. I love it here. I love this team. I think we're moving in the right direction," he added.

Well, the Pelicans definitely don't want to hear their franchise player question their commitment to him.

The Celtics do have the ability to put together an enticing package if the Pelicans ever decide to place Davis on the trading block. With Jayson Tatum and/or Jaylen Brown as the likely centerpiece of any package for Davis, the Celtics can make the Pelicans seriously consider the deal.

The question is, do the Celtics want to part ways with Tatum and Brown after what they have shown this season?
