Colombia vs Chile for Copa America 2016 Semifinals Preview: Matchup Expected to Be a Close Fight; Kickoff, Tickets, TV Info and Streaming

Arturo Vidal to Sit Out Game, Slapped With One-Match Ban

A close matchup between Chile and Colombia is expected on Wednesday night as the two teams meet for the Copa America 2016 semifinals.

Playing the Underdog Card

The Colombians won their previous game versus Peru in penalty kicks after the game resulted in a scoreless draw. The team has also been very strong in terms of offense and they are certainly hoping to defeat Chile and move on to the finals round, a feat they can achieve after a 15-year drought in the Copa America tournament.

Coming in to the semifinals, Colombia has proven its talented set of players which include Juan Cuadrado, James Rodriguez, Edwin Cardona and Carlos Bacca. Being the underdogs in this game will work in favor of the Colombians.

The team also had some difficulties dealing with opponents such as Peru, Costa Rica and Paraguay, but they were able to deliver a solid performance against the Americans attacking them quickly during the match.

Vidal a Big Loss for Chile?

For its part, Chile has continuously improved on its performance throughout the entire tournament. Some of the best players on the lineup are Arturo Vidal, Alexis Sanchez and Eduardo Vargas. These men have shown great improvement since Day 1 of Copa America 2016.

However, Vidal will not be able to participate in the semifinals match since he got booked for the tackle he made during the match against Mexico. Vavel said this was his second yellow for the Copa America 2016 and the rules state that getting two yellows is equivalent to a ban for one game.

He will be a big loss for the Chilean team but if his teammates will be able to perform well versus the Colombians, Vidal can be a strong player during the finals since he can rest and plan on his strategy to clinch the title.

Aside from the strong lineup of Chile, the defending champions are the next best team to Lionel Messi's Argentina. The Chileans successfully defeated Mexico during the quarterfinals with a 7-0 blowout.

Even though they a strong team coming in to this match, Chile would still need to focus on the things that make Colombia a worthy opponent and that is their consistency and Rodriguez.

This tight race will kick off at 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Soldier Field in Chicago, Ilinois. Tickets can be purchased for $62 to $845.
