'Fear the Walking Dead' release date, plot spoilers: Theories about the spin-off

It seems that AMC has now mastered the art of building excitement when it comes to its long-running series "The Walking Dead." Although its new season is not set to air until October 11, to satisfy fans' craving of the show, the network will be premiering a six-episode "companion series" called "Fear the Walking Dead" on August 23.

According to NY Daily News, this spin-off series will confirm that the zombies in the West Coast are not much different to the ones in the Atlantic Coast. A theory started to pop up after promotional videos were released, which follows a theory that was already presented by fans before. Now, viewers are considering that all this maybe happening just as a dream, specifically Nick's, played by Frank Dillane.

According to the Inquisitr, in the beginning of the season, viewers will be able to witness Nick discover the undead and escape them before the actual takeover of zombies. In his attempt to flee, he gets hit by a car and possibly goes into a coma, much like Rick's case in The Walking Dead. While lying in a hospital bed for weeks, he then only creates the apocalypse in his mind. Many fans thought that this would be a great way to have the two shows connected.

However, creator of the show Robert Kirkman, did shut down the rumors last year on the theory about Rick's coma, saying that it is happening very much so on The Walking Dead timeline. So following this, it can also be assumed that the Fear of the Walking Dead may be existing within its own universe as well, in connection to the main show.

Fear of the Walking Dead is set in Los Angeles, California and will follow the story of how a divorced male teacher, a female guidance counselor, and her two kids deal with the opening stages of the zombie apocalypse. The series is currently set to go for two seasons. Although this upcoming season is only set for six episodes, the second will be having nine more episodes, totaling to 15.
