Floyd Mayweather News: 'Money May' Rips Oscar De La Hoya, Responds To Conor McGregor
Retired undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. recently made the headlines once again for his comments about six-division boxing champion Oscar De La Hoya and UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor.
Since their record-setting fight in 2007, Mayweather and De La Hoya have always been at odds, despite working together under the latter's Golden Boy Promotions for seven years, from 2007-2014.
The rift between the two men was recently reignited, when De La Hoya posted an "open letter" which was published last year on Playboy Magazine. In the said letter, "the Golden Boy" lashed at "Money May" for the latter's "boring" style, adding that the mega fight against Pacquiao should have happened "five years ago, not five months ago."
In a recent interview with Fight Hype, Mayweather took the opportunity to take shots at his old rival once again. This time, he brought up an old scandalous photo of De La Hoya in women's lingerie.
"It's good to work with guys like Richard Schaefer and Al Haymon, guys that (are) drug-free, guys that wear suits, guys that dress like men," Mayweather said. "I'm always sending shots at (De La Hoya) because I don't respect a man that dress in drag."
Mayweather also responded to the recent rants made by UFC champion Conor McGregor during a pre-fight press conference. "The Notorious" issued his second response to Mayweather's initial cries of racism on how people react to their brand of promoting themselves and their fights.
According to McGregor, Mayweather "needs to learn" before speaking, noting that men like himself should not be mentioned in the same light with racism.
In another Fight Hype video interview, Mayweather clarified that he was not racist and that he does understand why McGregor would be offended with his previous statements.
"If (McGregor) got offended, that's life," Mayweather said. "Sometimes, people will get offended by certain things people say."
