'Resident Evil 2: The Board Game' Collects More Than Double of Funding Goal in One Day

Steamforged Games Ltd, a popular board game maker, has recently announced plans to make another product inspired by "Resident Evil 2" and was able to gather overwhelming monetary support within a day.

In fact, according to Kotaku, the developers were able to reach their goal – a hefty 150,000 pounds – in just an hour after its Kickstarter campaign page went live.

The board game maker is famously known for their equally successful and well-supported project inspired by the video game "Dark Souls."

As of this writing, the "Resident Evil 2 – The Board Game" campaign has more than 4,600 backers that collectively funded the project. It has now earned over 360,000 pounds and still counting.

The creators describe the board game as a co-operative survival horror game that can accommodate up to four players.

Players can choose from several characters "before venturing into the zombie-infested streets and buildings of Raccoon City." The board game makers are going to bring back familiar characters from the original material such as Ada Wong, Leon Kennedy, Claire Redfield, Robert Kendo, and more.

Despite reaching more than double of their target funding, Steamforged has yet to close the campaign that they originally intended to keep open until Tuesday, Oct. 24. So, players can still back the project for as low as 10 pounds but without any reward in the future.

Meanwhile, the other pledge package still available costs 70 pounds and will reward supporters with the main board game, the "B-Files" expansion set of cards, all unlocked stretch goals, and more.

The "B-Files" expansion set gives players a box of more miniatures of characters such as the Alt Leon, T-00, T-103, eight zombies, and one evolved licker.

On the other hand, the Stretch Goals will include more weapon cards, several Alt Zombies, another Alt Licker, and Sherry Birkin.

The creators still have several figures to unveil which could only be possible if they gather more funding from Kickstarter backers.

Meanwhile, the campaign page says pledgers will get their board game sometime in September 2018 and that the product will be shipped worldwide.
