Tom Hanks As Walt Disney, Wows in 'Saving Mr. Banks' Trailer
Tom Hanks' portrayal of Walt Disney is already making waves as the trailer for "Saving Mr. Banks" hit the Internet on Thursday.
The biopic follows the true story of Disney meeting "Mary Poppins" author P.L. Travers for the first time as he tries to adapt the book to film.
In the role of the British author is Emma Thompson who meets the famous co-founder of Disney Studios.
Hanks suited up as Disney by adding a mustache and a midlands accent in the trailer, which sheds light on the struggle for Disney Studios to obtain the rights to Travers' "Mary Poppins."
During the clip, cantankerous Travers arrived in Los Angeles to meet Disney who promised his daughters to bring her children's book "Mary Poppins" to the big screen.
Resistant to give up her beloved magical nanny to Hollywood, Travers eventually grants Disney the rights to the story.
In 1964, Disney produced the "Mary Poppins" movie that starred Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke.
The musical went on to earn Andrews an Academy Award. "Mary Poppins" also earned Oscars for Best Film Editing, Original Music Score, Best Song for "ChimChim Cher-ee" and Best Visual Effects. It surpassed any other Walt Disney Studios films with the amount of nominations.
Discussing her portrayal of the persnickety Travers in "Saving Mr. Banks," Thompson said the "Mary Poppins" author was "the most difficult person I've ever played," according to TIME magazine.
"She was a woman of quite eye-watering complexity and contradiction," continued the Academy Award-winning actress.
"Saving Mr. Banks" also stars Colin Farrell, Rachel Griffiths and B.J. Novak, and is due in theaters Dec. 13.

Meanwhile, last year, a pseudo movie poster featuring Ryan Gosling as Walt Disney made waves online. The ad for the potential film on the father of Mickey Mouse was drawn by Paris-based artist Pascal Witaszek and was met with great interest.
