3 cities where agitators attacked police during 'No Kings' protests on Trump's birthday

At least a dozen officers injured, nearly 600 arrested in Los Angeles

Around a dozen officers have been wounded since the protests began in Los Angeles earlier this month, according to a Monday statement from the Los Angeles Police Department. In addition, the LAPD revealed that it has made nearly 600 arrests related to protest activity since June 7.

According to a Sunday statement, the LAPD and multiple law enforcement partners responded on Saturday to reports of protests and criminal activity in the city. Police arrested at least 35 individuals, and the charges included failure to disperse, resisting arrest and obstructing or delaying a police officer.

The LAPD also reported that three officers had been injured in relation to Saturday's protests.

As KNBC reported Saturday, deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said that "something shifted" after over 200,000 people marched in the planned "No Kings" protest.

Around 4 p.m., demonstrators started hurling objects at officers, prompting the LAPD to issue a dispersal order in multiple places throughout downtown Los Angeles.

"They had high ground on a pedestrian overcross bridge and began throwing rocks and bottles and projectiles at our officers," LAPD Deputy Chief Emada Tingirides said about the rioters.

L.A. County Sheriff Robert Luna told NBC Los Angeles that a deputy and a horse from the department's Mounted Enforcement Detail division were injured on Saturday. Luna and Tingirides described the violent protestors as a small group of "agitators" who forced peaceful rally participants to flee the area.

"It's absolutely unacceptable to throw high-grade fireworks, rocks and bottles not only at our law enforcement officers but also toward individuals, families and children that are trying to express their First Amendment rights," Tingrides said.
