4 things to know about Trump's new surgeon general pick Dr. Casey Means
1. Book author and former Stanford University faculty
Means’ website features a page devoted to a book she co-wrote with her brother, Calley, titled Good Energy. The webpage describes the book as “a unifying framework for understanding what is causing symptoms and diseases, and how to feel amazing now and in the future.”
The section of Means’ website with information about the book contains additional information about her work experience. Means’ LinkedIn profile confirms these details, noting that she attended Stanford University as an undergraduate from 2005-2009. From 2006-2007, she served as her class president.
Means attended Stanford’s Medical School from 2010-2014, graduating with a doctorate in medicine. From 2014-2018, she participated in a residency at Oregon Health and Science University where she served as a resident physician in the Department of Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery. Her LinkedIn page notes that she left her residency in her fifth year “to focus on the real root causes of why Americans are so sick.”
Even after leaving her residency, Means remained active in the medical community. In 2020, she served as a guest lecturer at her alma mater, teaching a course titled “Live Better Longer: Enhancing Lifespan for Healthspan.”
